Spring into solar at The Rural Living Show

PEOPLE attending The Rural Living Spring Show in Taunton this month (March, 2013) will have the chance to learn more about how they can go green in 2013.

Anyone attending the event at Taunton Racecourse on March 23 and 24 can get information from Solar Systems on generating electricity using solar panels for their home, business or land.

Phil Grabham, Managing Director of Solar Systems, which installs domestic and commercial solar panels, said: "To mark the start of the new season we will be attending The Rural Living Spring Show. There will be more than 100 stands at the event including plant and garden stalls, eco and sustainability displays, as well as food and crafts.

"During the weekend we will be chatting to visitors about the benefits of solar panels. In the current economic climate where people are looking for alternative, eco-friendly ways to power their homes and businesses, solar panels can be a great option and we will be happy to answer any questions people may have.

"We will also be displaying our new portable solar panel product, Pluginsolarpanels.

"The product provides a solution for anyone who wants to use solar technology and make savings on their energy bills but has insufficient roof space, wrong roof aspect, lives in rented premises or can't afford to invest in a standard system."

Pluginsolarpanels can be mounted on sheds and garages or positioned freestanding in open spaces. They are then plugged into a 13amp socket and the power generated gets fed into the normal circuitry so solar energy is prioritised for use before drawing from the grid.

The free electricity can be used to offset the power consumption of items such as computers, fridges and televisions or to reduce energy bills.

Phil added: "Solar PV panels do not require direct sunlight to work. Even on a cloudy day electricity will be generated, which is a plus considering the unpredictable weather in the UK.

"With energy prices increasing, PV panels are a great way to cap inflation and reduce your greenhouse gas emissions."

The Rural Living Spring Show takes place on Saturday, March 23 from 10am until 5pm and on Sunday, March 24 from 10am until 4pm at Taunton Racecourse, which is just off the B3170 in Taunton. Entry costs £3 and parking is available on-site.
