EQUESTRIENNE Jess Hindle from Bickenhall near Ilminster has been selected to represent England in the Mounted Games European Championships in Italy next month (August, 2012).

The 21-year-old says she and her pony, Lady are training hard for the championships, which take place in Turin from August 1 until 5, with support from sponsor Solar Systems.

Jess, who has been riding since she was three-years-old, explained: "I am looking forward to the championships and competing against some of the best riders in Europe. Last year we participated in the Southern Individual Championships where we became Southern Individual Reserve champions.

"I have owned Lady for two years and trained her myself. Before training her, Lady had only been involved in local shows or hunts so I am very proud of how far we have come.

"I am grateful to the support Solar Systems has given me and without it I wouldn't be able to take part in the championships."

Mounted Games is a form of equestrian sport in which a series of relay and obstacle type races are performed at high speed by riders on ponies up to a height of 14.2 hands.

The games require a high degree of athletic ability, good riding skills and hand-to-eye co-ordination.

Phil Grabham, Managing Director of Solar Systems, which is based in Ilminster, explained: "We are delighted to be supporting Jess and Lady.

"We wish them all the best in the Mounted Games European Championships and look forward to hearing how they get on."
