Chance to win solar power gadgets

PEOPLE from Somerset are being given the chance to win some solar powered gadgets this month (July, 2012) thanks to a solar panel installation company in the county.

Solar Systems, based near Ilminster, has organised the competition and is offering five people the chance to win a solar powered torch.

Phil Grabham, Managing Director of Solar Systems, which installs home and business panels, explained: "We have five solar powered torches to give away.

"To be in with a chance of winning, we would like people to tweet a photo about the great British weather, for example an amazing sunset or summer holiday snap in the sun or rain.

"As it is a Best of British year with the Jubilee and London 2012, let's celebrate the great British weather and the spirit in which we embrace it.

"Photos should be uploaded to www.twitter.com/solarsystems1 by midnight on Monday, September 3."

Solar Systems has a wealth of experience working with homeowners and businesses across the South West.

Phil added: "In the current economic climate, where people are looking for alternative, eco-friendly ways to power their homes and businesses, solar panels can be a great option. The electricity generated is free and the Government's Feed In Tariff pays for each unit that is produced. Any surplus electricity will get exported back to the grid for an additional sum.

"During recent months the cost of panels has dropped, giving a financial return on investment of around 10-12%, which is tax free, index-linked and guaranteed for 25 years.

"Photovoltaic (PV) panels do not require direct sunlight to work. Even on a cloudy day electricity will be generated, which is a plus considering the unpredictable weather in the UK. With energy prices increasing, solar PV is a great way to cap inflation and reduce your greenhouse gas emissions."

People are invited to tweet their weather photos via Twitter at www.twitter.com/solarsystems1 by midnight on Monday, September 3.

The first five names out of the hat after this date will be sent a solar torch.
